Organised by Nottinghamshire County Council in collaboration with Mansfield and Sutton Astronomical Society this public stargazing event offers the opportunity to explore the skies above Sherwood Forest. Look through a number of telescopes at various deep sky objects and enjoy an astronomical presentation in the comfort of the visitor centre. Wrap up warm and wear good foot-ware! Booking required with ticket including free hot drink!

Event darkness

The Moon has a big impact on the visibility of celestial bodies in the night sky. Try to plan your stargazing when there is no bright Moon at night as this is when the skies will be at their darkest.
