Martin's Bar at Highlands End Holiday Park
Eype, Bridport, Dorset, DT6 6AR, South West England
Join the team from Martin’s Bar for an evening of stargazing on the Jurassic Coast!
Local astronomer Kate Earl will show us the stars and planets through a telescope, pausing along the way to cover a wide range of topics including how stars form, the myths and legends behind some of the constellations, and how our Stone Age ancestors might have used the night sky. If you have your own binoculars, feel free to bring them along, but it is not necessary.
Dorset has no cities or motorways in the entire county, and the rural countryside locations of our parks provide fantastic locations for stargazing, with dark skies that aren’t spoiled by light pollution. Of course, we can’t guarantee great weather, so in the event of very heavy cloud cover or rain, we may need to move the event inside, where there will be a range of interactive and educational activities. However, we’ll try and avoid this at all costs, so bring a coat and wrap up warm!
This event is open to all, including non-holiday home owners. Tickets cost £5 and can be purchased in advance from Martin’s Bar & Restaurant or Highlands End Reception.
