Members of the public are invited to join Athenaeum Astronomy Association for this one of their regular fortnightly meetings at the walled garden in Norton Park. When weather permits the evening will be spent observing with telescopes, binoculars and the naked eye! If the weather does not allow for stargazing members and guest speakers give a range of astronomical talks. If you are going along for the first time please contact the event organisers in advance (link below) to make sure the meeting is going ahead.

Event darkness

The Moon has a big impact on the visibility of celestial bodies in the night sky. Try to plan your stargazing when there is no bright Moon at night as this is when the skies will be at their darkest.

Midnight on the date shown is shown as a white line with sunset to the left and sunrise the next morning to the right. A black background with stars shows the best times for stargazing.
