Whitelee Wind Farm are pleased to announce that they are going to be hosting another of our very popular Stargazing Evenings at Whitelee Windfarm Visitor Centre on the 27th of February 2024 between 7:00pm and 9:00pm.

This will be a free event hosted by Whitelee staff, the Astronomical Society of Glasgow and the Planetarium at Glasgow Science Centre. This event is designed for people wanting to know more about the stars and how to get into astronomy.

Due to the content and activities it is not designed for younger children, so all participants are required to be over the age of 14. There will be Junior Stargazing nights in the Autumn.

Numbers are limited due to the spaces available for the activities. You have until 4:00pm on the 21st of February to apply for tickets.

Please note that this has already taken place on 27/02/2024

Event darkness

The Moon has a big impact on the visibility of celestial bodies in the night sky. Try to plan your stargazing when there is no bright Moon at night as this is when the skies will be at their darkest.

The below chart shows if and when the skies will be at their darkest during this event. Moonlight is shown in light yellow and the Sun's twilight in light blue. Midnight on the date shown is shown as a white line with sunset to the left and sunrise the next morning to the right. A black background with stars shows the best times for stargazing.
