Space@TheStade: The Spectrum of Space

[email protected]: The Spectrum of Space

Sunday 15th March 2020 from 10:00am to 16:00pm

The Stade - Hastings Old Town
20 Rock-A-Nore Road, Hastings, TN34 3DW, South East

A FREE, 2-day astronomy event in the heart of Hastings Old Town. This season’s theme for [email protected] is ‘Space through the Electromagnetic Spectrum’. We’ll be looking at familiar things in very unfamiliar ways… seeing the invisible with different types of light!

We’ll have our pop-up planetarium featuring a 360-degree immersive show; sciency demos and hands-on activities. And if we get clear skies, we’ll be safely looking at the Sun and the nighttime sky through telescopes and binoculars. We’ll also be running a Telescope Clinic for anyone wanting advice on setting up a telescope or just wanting to know what astronomy stuff to buy and where to get it. And it’s all completely FREE!

Please note that this event has already taken place on 15/03/2020

Event darkness

The Moon has a big impact on the visibility of celestial bodies in the night sky. Try to plan your stargazing when there is no bright Moon at night as this is when the skies will be at their darkest.

The below chart shows if and when the skies will be at their darkest during this event. Moonlight is shown in light yellow and the Sun's twilight in light blue. Midnight on the date shown is shown as a white line with sunset to the left and sunrise the next morning to the right. A black background with stars shows the best times for stargazing.
