Sutton Bank Star Hub
Sutton Bank Visitors Centre, Thirsk, YO7 2EX
Join local astronomer Richard Darn for a special pre-Christmas stargazing night at the wonderful new Star Hub at Sutton Bank National Park Centre.
This night coincides with the peak of the Geminids meteor shower – the best of the year – and the moon is also in the sky. Although that will cut down on the number of shooting stars we will see we have high hopes of spotting the brighter ones.
In between, we’ll observe craters on the lunar surface using powerful telescopes. Plus we’ll tour the other stars of early winter, enjoy an interactive planetarium inside the warm Hub and get a chance to handle space rocks.
This event is suitable for adults and children over six years old and is perfect for novices and goes ahead in all weather (unless conditions are hazardous). Warm refreshments are included in the ticket price.
