Sherwood Observatory Public Open Day - July 2024
Saturday 27th July 2024 from 19:00pm to 22:00pm
Sherwood Observatory and Science Discovery Centre
Coxmoor Road, Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, NG17 5LF, East Midlands
Join Mansfield and Sutton Astronomical Society members as they open their observatory for an afternoon of solar observing.
Here, you can view the Sun via our dedicated solar telescope (weather permitting). Depending on the activity of the Sun, expect to see real-time views of the Chromosphere, where significant eruptions of solar material eject into space.
Also, there will be presentations, talks and plenty of activities for younger astronomers. The Radio Astronomy Centre will be open for visitors to learn about meteor detection and take in some live solar radio astronomy.
Prior booking is required, with tickets becoming available approximately 3 to 4 weeks prior to each event.
Please note that this has already taken place on 27/07/2024
