Sackville Observatory Open Evening

Wednesday 9th February 2022 from 19:00pm to 21:00pm

Sackville Observatory
Sackville School, Hildenborough, Kent, TN11 9HN

The Sackville Observatory on Sackville School in East Grinstead is open once per month from autumn through to spring. These events offer students, families, and the wider community the opportunity to look through their fantastic 200mm reflecting telescope.

The observatory will only be open if weather permits. Please check their Facebook page on the day of the event to see if observing will take place or if a “cloudy night” plan indoors will be offered instead.

Please note that this has already taken place on 09/02/2022

Event darkness

The Moon has a big impact on the visibility of celestial bodies in the night sky. Try to plan your stargazing when there is no bright Moon at night as this is when the skies will be at their darkest.

The below chart shows if and when the skies will be at their darkest during this event. Moonlight is shown in light yellow and the Sun's twilight in light blue. Midnight on the date shown is shown as a white line with sunset to the left and sunrise the next morning to the right. A black background with stars shows the best times for stargazing.
