Practical Astronomer / Astronomy School

Practical Astronomer / Astronomy School

Thursday 17th January 2019 from 20:30pm to 22:30pm

Crown East Scout Hut
Crown East, Rushwick, WR2 5TR

Worcester Astronomical Society host their practical astronomer and astronomy school events every third Thursday each month. The events alternate each month with the “Practical Astronomer” hands-on practical sessions aimed at both the beginner and more advanced observers and the “Astronomy School” sessions including a series of short presentations. All of these events involve observing if weather permits and, combined with their regular observing evenings, are a great introduction to Astronomy by friendly, enthusiastic astronomers.

Please note that this event has already taken place on 17/01/2019

Event darkness

The Moon has a big impact on the visibility of celestial bodies in the night sky. Try to plan your stargazing when there is no bright Moon at night as this is when the skies will be at their darkest.

The below chart shows if and when the skies will be at their darkest during this event. Moonlight is shown in light yellow and the Sun's twilight in light blue. Midnight on the date shown is shown as a white line with sunset to the left and sunrise the next morning to the right. A black background with stars shows the best times for stargazing.
