Popup Observe the Moon & Saturn Night with Worthing Astronomers

Wednesday 30th August 2023 from 20:00pm to 23:00pm

Worthing Seafront Promenade
Near Grand Avenue, Worthing, West Sussex, BN11 5AW

Worthing Astronomers will be holding a popup public outreach on Worthing seafront tonight (30/08/23). Saturn and the Moon will be breaking the horizon at 8pm and they will have our telescopes trained on them for you to take a look. Hopefully it’s clear enough but if not you can still take a look at our telescopes and ask questions! This is a free event, just turn up.

Please note that this has already taken place on 30/08/2023

Event darkness

The Moon has a big impact on the visibility of celestial bodies in the night sky. Try to plan your stargazing when there is no bright Moon at night as this is when the skies will be at their darkest.

The below chart shows if and when the skies will be at their darkest during this event. Moonlight is shown in light yellow and the Sun's twilight in light blue. Midnight on the date shown is shown as a white line with sunset to the left and sunrise the next morning to the right. A black background with stars shows the best times for stargazing.
