Tretower Court and Castle
Tretower, Crickhowell, NP8 1RD
Join Usk Astronomical society in September at Tretower Court & Castle, the perfect location to use telescopes to view the mighty planet Jupiter and its moons and the beautiful ringed Saturn. The Moon will be well placed in its first quarter so its spectacular mountains, craters and seas will also be in full view.
There will be a “pop-up” planetarium to help identify the constellations and learn about some of the myths and legends associated with them and a talk about the solar system and an opportunity to hold and examine a collection of meteorites. A good supply of telescopes will be placed in the grounds and an opportunity to do some astro-photogpraphy for those interested.
If you would like to watch out for the resident bats and do some bat detection, Just Mammals will be on hand to help identify the various breeds through sonar equipment.
Visitors are most welcome! Booking required…
