Open Dome Night at Trent Astronomical Observatory

Open Dome Night at Trent Astronomical Observatory

Wednesday 28th February 2018 from 20:00pm to 22:00pm

Trent Astronomical Observatory
Clifton Campus, Erasmus Darwin Buildings, Nottingham, NG11 8NF

This is one of a regular public open evenings of Trent Astronomical Observatory on the Clifton Campus of Nottingham Trent University. These events are a great opportunity to meet the astronomers and scientists from the University, ask questions all things astronomical and enjoy a variety of science related presentations. If the weather permits you’ll be able to observe through their large 16″ aperture telescope — if not there’ll be a back up plan with a planetarium show. All of the events are free of charge.

Please note that this event has already taken place on 28/02/2018

Event darkness

The Moon has a big impact on the visibility of celestial bodies in the night sky. Try to plan your stargazing when there is no bright Moon at night as this is when the skies will be at their darkest.

The below chart shows if and when the skies will be at their darkest during this event. Moonlight is shown in light yellow and the Sun's twilight in light blue. Midnight on the date shown is shown as a white line with sunset to the left and sunrise the next morning to the right. A black background with stars shows the best times for stargazing.
