Observing with Walsall Astronomical Society

Thursday 8th October 2020 from 20:30pm to 22:30pm

Rushall Olympic Football Club
Dales Lane, Rushall, WS4 1LJ

Members of the public are very much welcome to join the astronomers from Walsall Astronomical Society who meet most Thursday evenings at the ground of Rushall Olympic FC (except Christmas week).

On the first Thursday of each month the meeting includes a presentation by an invited guest speaker with a variety of astronomical topics covered throughout the year. Guests are asked to arrive at 19:30 for a prompt 20:00 start. An observing session concludes the evening if the weather permits.

On all other Thursdays there will be an informal meeting to include an observing session with the opportunity of looking through the club’s telescopes at a variety of objects weather permitting. Arrive 20:30 for 21:00 start.

Please note that this event has already taken place on 08/10/2020

Event darkness

The Moon has a big impact on the visibility of celestial bodies in the night sky. Try to plan your stargazing when there is no bright Moon at night as this is when the skies will be at their darkest.

The below chart shows if and when the skies will be at their darkest during this event. Moonlight is shown in light yellow and the Sun's twilight in light blue. Midnight on the date shown is shown as a white line with sunset to the left and sunrise the next morning to the right. A black background with stars shows the best times for stargazing.
