Observe the Draconids Meteor Shower with EAARO

Observe the Draconids Meteor Shower with EAARO

Tuesday 8th October 2019 from 20:00pm to Wednesday 9th October 2019 05:00am

EAARO Space Operations Centre
Space Operations Centre - Building 1013, Alconbury Airfield, PE28 4XA

Join the team at EAARO to observe the Draconids, also known as the Giacobinids, they’re a meteor shower whose parent body is the periodic comet 21P/Giacobini-Zinner, named after the constellation Draco, where they seemingly come from.

Most meteors which fall towards Earth ablate before reaching its surface but we can observe them by reflecting radio waves from their ionised trails.

Our meteor telescope utilises sensitive antennas and state of the art receivers to display live meteor data in real-time providing an exciting and informative experience for anyone interested in science & technology.

You are welcome to stay all night or just drop in for a short while.

Light refreshments will be available.
