Observe Mars at the Luton Dall Observatory

Observe Mars at the Luton Dall Observatory

Thursday 1st December 2022 from 19:30pm to 21:30pm

Luton Dall Observatory at Putteridge Bury
Putteridge Bury, Luton, Bedfordshire, LU2 8LE

Join the members of the Luton Astronomical Society for an evening observing the planet Mars. The timing of these sessions is when the planet is in opposition and, therefore, best placed for observations. Observing is subject to clear skies. We advise wearing stout footwear, and a responsible adult must accompany children. These events are free with no booking required; however, we recommend contacting the Luton Astronomical Society to let them know you plan to attend.

Please note that this has already taken place on 01/12/2022

Event darkness

The Moon has a big impact on the visibility of celestial bodies in the night sky. Try to plan your stargazing when there is no bright Moon at night as this is when the skies will be at their darkest.

The below chart shows if and when the skies will be at their darkest during this event. Moonlight is shown in light yellow and the Sun's twilight in light blue. Midnight on the date shown is shown as a white line with sunset to the left and sunrise the next morning to the right. A black background with stars shows the best times for stargazing.
