Northumberland Dark Skies workshop

Northumberland Dark Skies workshop

Saturday 16th March 2024 from 18:00pm to 20:00pm

Hauxley Wildlife Discovery Centre and Observatory
Low Hauxley, Amble, Northumberland, NE65 0JR

Join the Northumberland Wildlife Trust and Dr Adrian Jannetta from the Northumberland Astronomical Society for a really far out, immersive star-gazing experience under the dark skies of Northumberland!

You will get the chance to use a telescope (housed in the Hauxley observatory), so that you can see the Milky Way, Moon and stars as never before! (Please note this is dependent of weather conditions). Book early to avoid disappointment.

This is both a classroom and outdoors event, please dress appropriately for the weather conditions. Includes a hot drink served from 18:00.

Please note that this has already taken place on 16/03/2024

Event darkness

The Moon has a big impact on the visibility of celestial bodies in the night sky. Try to plan your stargazing when there is no bright Moon at night as this is when the skies will be at their darkest.

The below chart shows if and when the skies will be at their darkest during this event. Moonlight is shown in light yellow and the Sun's twilight in light blue. Midnight on the date shown is shown as a white line with sunset to the left and sunrise the next morning to the right. A black background with stars shows the best times for stargazing.
