North Pennines Stargazing Festival 2022 Starcamp
Friday 21st October 2022 from 17:00pm to Sunday 23rd October 2022 12:00pm
Doe Park Caravan Site
Cotherstone, Barnard Castle, County Durham, DL12 9UQ, North East
Join our Star Camp for an astronomical weekend in Teesdale. The camp is perfect for novice astronomers and is suitable for people aged six and over.
Telescopes will be provided, along with expert guidance, and you are welcome to bring your equipment, including cameras (with tripods), binoculars and telescopes. There will also be astronomy-themed talks, solar observing and a bottle rocket competition.
During the weekend, the planets Saturn, Jupiter and Mars can be seen in the evening and look incredible through large telescopes (provided). The event occurs at the new Moon, and with no natural moonlight, the skies will be at their darkest – it’s a great time of year to view the Milky Way arching across the sky above the North Pennines.
You will arrive on Friday night to a mulled wine reception at 7 pm – stargazing will be available (weather permitting) on Friday and Saturday night, departing on Sunday. Bring warm clothing and a red light torch (if you have one).
Pitch fees – electric £22 per night; non-electric £17 per night – plus £9.50 per person per night ‘astronomy charge’ (£8 for under 16s).
This event takes place as part of the North Pennines Stargazing Festival 2022.
Please note that this has already taken place on 21/10/2022
