Night Vision with Forest Ranger

Night Vision with Forest Ranger

Thursday 22nd February 2018 from 17:00pm to 18:30pm

Cropton Cabins Holiday Park
Cropton, Wrelton, YO18 8ES

This night-time nature walk is a great idea for a family evening away in the great outdoors. Listen to the owls as you spot deer using infrared equipment, then gaze up at the dark skies where you will see thousands more stars than you would if you lived in a town or village. This public stargazing event takes place as part of the National Parks Dark Skies Festival 2018.

Please note that this event has already taken place on 22/02/2018

Event darkness

The Moon has a big impact on the visibility of celestial bodies in the night sky. Try to plan your stargazing when there is no bright Moon at night as this is when the skies will be at their darkest.

The below chart shows if and when the skies will be at their darkest during this event. Moonlight is shown in light yellow and the Sun's twilight in light blue. Midnight on the date shown is shown as a white line with sunset to the left and sunrise the next morning to the right. A black background with stars shows the best times for stargazing.
