Mysteries of Venus with Dartmoor Skies

Mysteries of Venus with Dartmoor Skies

Saturday 28th March 2020 from 18:30pm to 21:00pm

Hound Tor Car Park - Dartmoor
Manaton, Newton Abbot, TQ13 9XQ

Join the teams from Dartmoor Skies and Dartmoor’s Daughter for an astronomical adventure in the heart of the moorland. With Venus visible in the sky, a young moon, and a host of other astronomical wonders to enjoy, this promises to be a memorable night. In clear weather, we will walk together to a beautiful location and guide you through the night skies and set up large telescopes so you can explore the night sky at your leisure. If the weather isn’t favourable, our back up plan will be tea and talks with slides in a nearby indoor venue. Booking required.

Event darkness

The Moon has a big impact on the visibility of celestial bodies in the night sky. Try to plan your stargazing when there is no bright Moon at night as this is when the skies will be at their darkest.

The below chart shows if and when the skies will be at their darkest during this event. Moonlight is shown in light yellow and the Sun's twilight in light blue. Midnight on the date shown is shown as a white line with sunset to the left and sunrise the next morning to the right. A black background with stars shows the best times for stargazing.
