Sunday 21st July 2019 from 20:00pm to 23:00pm

Tissington Village Hall
Tissington, Ashbourne, DE6 1RA, East Midlands

Join the wonderful team from Scopes4SEN, a charity that distributes telescopes to organisations who support special educational need children and vulnerable people, for this free stargazing event to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the first man on the Moon. There’ll be observing using telescopes if the skies are clear (including solar observing if the Sun is visible) and indoor presentations if not with free coffee, tea, and snacks for all. Take along your own telescope if you have one and enter the fundraising raffle to win one! No booking required simply turn up on the night! This event is kindly sponsored by the Royal Astronomical Society.

Please note that this event has already taken place on 21/07/2019

Event darkness

The Moon has a big impact on the visibility of celestial bodies in the night sky. Try to plan your stargazing when there is no bright Moon at night as this is when the skies will be at their darkest.

The below chart shows if and when the skies will be at their darkest during this event. Moonlight is shown in light yellow and the Sun's twilight in light blue. Midnight on the date shown is shown as a white line with sunset to the left and sunrise the next morning to the right. A black background with stars shows the best times for stargazing.
