Luton Astronomical Society monthly meeting

Luton Astronomical Society monthly meeting

Thursday 30th November 2023 from 19:15pm to 21:00pm

University of Bedford - Putteridge Bury Campus
Hitchin Road, Luton, Bedfordshire, LU2 8LE

Everyone is welcome to attend this meeting with the friendly members of the Luton Astronomical Society. Enjoy a presentation by a guest speaker and catch up with local astronomers. These meetings, which occur on the last Thursday of each month (except for December), are also an excellent opportunity to learn more about the group’s stargazing sessions. A small on-the-door fee to help cover costs is payable by visitors.

In the summer months of June and July, the Society meets at Someries Junior School.

Please note that this has already taken place on 30/11/2023

Event darkness

The Moon has a big impact on the visibility of celestial bodies in the night sky. Try to plan your stargazing when there is no bright Moon at night as this is when the skies will be at their darkest.

The below chart shows if and when the skies will be at their darkest during this event. Moonlight is shown in light yellow and the Sun's twilight in light blue. Midnight on the date shown is shown as a white line with sunset to the left and sunrise the next morning to the right. A black background with stars shows the best times for stargazing.
