Looking up - Stargazing in Abergavenny - Astronomy show
Saturday 15th April 2023 from 12:00pm to 17:00pm
St Michael's Centre - Abergavenny
Pen y Pound, Abergavenny, Gwent, NP7 5UD
Enjoy a free open day learning about the Universe with members of the Abergavenny Astronomy Society and Usk Astronomy group.
You can handle genuine space rocks as old as the Sun. Weather permitting, there will be special telescopes that allow us to view the surface of the Sun – a truly memorable experience – especially as the Sun is active at the moment.
If you have a telescope or binoculars that you would like to use for a bit
of stargazing but do not know where to start, bring them along, and experienced astronomers will give you top tips to help to get you going.
There will also be an amazing state-of-the-art digital planetarium that will
be running shows throughout the afternoon. You can view the night sky in amazing detail, fly to other planets, understand the constellations, and more. Shows last 30 minutes and are suitable for ages five years and up. Spaces for the planetarium are limited, so prior booking is advised. Each show costs £1 and can be booked in advance.
Refreshments will be available, and admission is free, although there is a small charge of £1 for the planetarium shows.
Please note that this has already taken place on 15/04/2023
