Jersey Astronomy Club Observatory Open Night

Monday 14th October 2019 from 20:00pm to 22:00pm

Sir Patrick Moore Astronomy Centre
Les Creux Country Park, St. Brelade, JE3 8LN

Members of Jersey Astronomy Club meet regularly at their observatory located at the Sir Patrick Moore Astronomy Centre on the South of the island.  On the second Monday of every month they have their monthly club meeting which includes a talk by a club member or visiting speaker.  Every other Monday the observatory dome is opened when the weather allows for observing — check the clubs FaceBook page early Monday evenings for confirmation if and when the observatory will indeed be open.

Please note that this event has already taken place on 14/10/2019

Event darkness

The Moon has a big impact on the visibility of celestial bodies in the night sky. Try to plan your stargazing when there is no bright Moon at night as this is when the skies will be at their darkest.

The below chart shows if and when the skies will be at their darkest during this event. Moonlight is shown in light yellow and the Sun's twilight in light blue. Midnight on the date shown is shown as a white line with sunset to the left and sunrise the next morning to the right. A black background with stars shows the best times for stargazing.
