Go Stargazing Live with Worthing Astronomers

Everyone is invited to join the Worthing Astronomers for this public stargazing event at Goring Gap. Taking place as part of “Go Stargazing Live 2018” the event is timed to coincide with new moon when the skies are at their darkest and the location of this event has been chosen especially to escape the worst of the local light pollution. The event is free of charge and families are welcome! Note that the event is scheduled to take place on the 16th February however may move to the 17th February depending on the weather. Not only is this a great opportunity to stargaze with experienced astronomers you’ll also be supporting your local astronomy club! Clear skies!

Event darkness

The Moon has a big impact on the visibility of celestial bodies in the night sky. Try to plan your stargazing when there is no bright Moon at night as this is when the skies will be at their darkest.

The below chart shows if and when the skies will be at their darkest during this event. Moonlight is shown in light yellow and the Sun's twilight in light blue. Midnight on the date shown is shown as a white line with sunset to the left and sunrise the next morning to the right. A black background with stars shows the best times for stargazing.
