Dark sky meander and stargazing in Dalby Forest
Saturday 22nd October 2022 from 18:00pm to 21:30pm
High Dalby House and Cottages
Dalby Forest Drive, Pickering, North Yorkshire, YO18 7LP
Run in partnership with High Dalby House – a fabulous boutique retreat – you’re in for a real treat.
And the location couldn’t be more perfect. Set in the middle of Dalby Forest, it’s been confirmed it’s the darkest place in North York Moors. High Dalby House even has its own observatory!
But first, there’ll be warming drinks and delicious hot food all prepared by Ian and Linda, from High Dalby House. Afterwards, you’ll experience a short, sensory night-time walk. Why? Because it’s fun! Walking at night is such an incredible thing to do because it makes you feel amazing and enhances your experience. You’ll essentially see and hear so much more. Teens will love it too!
Afterwards you’ll learn about the stars with an astronomer. They’ll point out a few things in the night sky and you’ll be able to look at celestial objects through telescopes too. But if it’s a cloudy evening there will be a few things lined up indoors, so you’ll still learn lots and be amazed.
At the end of this experience, you’ll feel-good factor will be ramped up too! Book early for this one as it always sells out.
Walk information
The event is open to all, but please note, this is NOT an easy access walk. The walk length is around 1/2 mile on well defined paths, some gradients, steps and rough ground. You’ll also be walking in the dark as well (with a torch!).
This event takes place as part of the National Parks Dark Skies Fringe Festival 2022.
Please note that this has already taken place on 22/10/2022
