Dark Sky Festival Stargazing Swim

Dark Sky Festival Stargazing Swim

Sunday 5th November 2023 from 18:30pm to 19:30pm

Another Place - The Lake
Watermillock, Ullswater , Cumbria, CA11 0LP, North West

Swim in the lake at night under The Milky Way, the glow of your light-up tow float keeping you company under the stars. Open water swimming specialist, Colin Hill, will be your guide in the water with you. You will experience 20 – 40 mins in the water. The session will take place in the bay in front of the hotel and will include all equipment, safety briefing and guide.

We go out in most weather conditions, if it’s cloudy, we enjoy the inky blackness on the water – it’s a wonderful experience floating in Ullswater at night.

Please note that this has already taken place on 05/11/2023

Event darkness

The Moon has a big impact on the visibility of celestial bodies in the night sky. Try to plan your stargazing when there is no bright Moon at night as this is when the skies will be at their darkest.

The below chart shows if and when the skies will be at their darkest during this event. Moonlight is shown in light yellow and the Sun's twilight in light blue. Midnight on the date shown is shown as a white line with sunset to the left and sunrise the next morning to the right. A black background with stars shows the best times for stargazing.
