Dark Skies Festival Discovery Hub Stargazing
Friday 13th October 2023 from 18:00pm to 21:00pm
Exford Bridge Tea Rooms
Chapel Street, Exford, Somerset, TA24 7PY
Enjoy an evening of stargazing with experienced astronomers, starting with a delicious meal cooked by Bruce and Claire at the Exford Bridge Tea Rooms!
Then the sociable and informative part of our stargazing evening kicks off with a Stargazing presentation on the widescreen tv from astronomers Jo and Pete Richardson from Space Detectives. We will investigate stars and galaxies, discover star constellations, and share myths and legends of the night sky.
If the sky is clear, we will then head out and use the computerised “Go To” telescope to observe the sky as well as have a go at naked eye star hopping, using laser guidance!
If the weather is cloudy, Jo will use a virtual planetarium projector indoors and offer guidance on how to use free downloadable apps on phones and tablets to help you navigate your way around the night sky.
The option to find out more about telescopes and view a gallery of Pete’s Astrophotography will also be available.
This event occurs during the Exmoor Dark Skies Festival 2023.
Please note that this has already taken place on 13/10/2023
