17th January 2018 – open nights at the Bryan Joynes Observatory have been suspended until further notice.

Join members of Doncaster Astronomical Society at their Brian Joynes Observatory for this one of their regular Friday observing sessions. These events are open to the public (small fee) however weather permitting so please check first with event organisers if the event is going ahead and from what time. Booking may be required via the Austerfield Study Centre.

Event darkness

The Moon has a big impact on the visibility of celestial bodies in the night sky. Try to plan your stargazing when there is no bright Moon at night as this is when the skies will be at their darkest.
