Devon Greater Horseshoe Bat Project
Sharpham House, Totnes, TQ9 7UT, South West
See bats, moths and stars (hopefully) on this very special event that awakens your senses to nature at night-time.
The Sharpham Estate beside the River Dart hosts various bats and moths, while the streetlamp-free dark skies are perfect for stargazing on a clear night.
You’ll also be able to tour moth traps provided by the Devon Moth Group to see close-up how beautiful and diverse moths are, and discover more about their fascinating lifestyles.
This packed event also includes – clouds permitting! – a tour of the night-sky, thanks to Dartmoor Skies. If it is cloudy, there will be a short introduction to astronomy with lots of hints and tips so that you can explore the sky for yourselves when you get home.
Please note that this event has already taken place on 17/09/2018
The below chart shows if and when the skies will be at their darkest during this event. Moonlight is shown in light yellow and the Sun's twilight in light blue. Midnight on the date shown is shown as a white line with sunset to the left and sunrise the next morning to the right. A black background with stars shows the best times for stargazing.
