Ayrshire Astronomical Society meeting

Ayrshire Astronomical Society meeting

Monday 22nd January 2024 from 19:00pm to 21:00pm

Kyle Academy
Overmills Road, Ayr, Ayrshire, KA7 3LR

Members of the Ayrshire Astronomical Society meet every fourth Monday of each month (except for December) at the Kyle Academy in Ayr.

Meetings occur in the theatre building to the right of the main school building as you enter the car park, and are mainly talk-based, with presentations given by members and guest speakers.

These events are a great way to meet local astronomers and find out about their activities. In addition, the society has a particular aurora group which is administered via Facebook and alerts members when the aurora is visible.

Please note that this has already taken place on 22/01/2024

Event darkness

The Moon has a big impact on the visibility of celestial bodies in the night sky. Try to plan your stargazing when there is no bright Moon at night as this is when the skies will be at their darkest.

The below chart shows if and when the skies will be at their darkest during this event. Moonlight is shown in light yellow and the Sun's twilight in light blue. Midnight on the date shown is shown as a white line with sunset to the left and sunrise the next morning to the right. A black background with stars shows the best times for stargazing.
