Astronomy Talks – Life in the Universe
Tuesday 10th December 2024 from 19:00pm to 20:00pm
The Friarage Theatre - Yarm School
Yarm School, Middlesbrough, Cleveland, TS15 9EJ
Join Go Stargazing astronomer Dr Fred Stevenson for this fascinating astronomy talk, no previous knowledge of astronomy or science is required!
The James Webb space telescope has allowed great advances in the understanding of exoplanets – planets orbiting other stars – and it may soon be possible to analyse exoplanet atmospheres in enough detail to show that they may be life bearing.
We will discuss how exoplanets are discovered and use the famous ‘Drake Equation’ to give an estimate for the number of life bearing worlds in the galaxy.
