Astronomy For Fun Stargazing Live 2017

Astronomy For Fun Stargazing Live 2017

Saturday 1st April 2017 from 18:00pm to 22:00pm

Daventry Town Hall
3 New Street, Daventry, NN11 4BT

This public stargazing event has been organised in conjunction with BBC Stargazing Live 2017 by the social astronomy group Astronomy For Fun. Activities include a live link up to Australia (where Stargazing Live is being broadcast from), a talk by the excellent Ross Hockham from UK Astronomy, virtual reality headsets to explore the Universe (wow!) and of course telescopes to look through should the weather allow. Refreshments also available including cake — if all that hasn’t encouraged you to go along we’re not sure what will! For more information message the Astronomy For Fun group on their Facebook page (link below).

Please note that this event has already taken place on 01/04/2017

Event darkness

The Moon has a big impact on the visibility of celestial bodies in the night sky. Try to plan your stargazing when there is no bright Moon at night as this is when the skies will be at their darkest.

The below chart shows if and when the skies will be at their darkest during this event. Moonlight is shown in light yellow and the Sun's twilight in light blue. Midnight on the date shown is shown as a white line with sunset to the left and sunrise the next morning to the right. A black background with stars shows the best times for stargazing.
