Enjoy the spectacle of the stars in the darkness of Holyrood Park with experts from the Royal Observatory, and learn about the constellations and planets visible in autumn.

Parking available at Broad Pavement Car Park (next to Holyrood Palace).

Please note this event involves walking in the dark over rough paths and is not suitable for disabled access.

This event requires prior booking, at which time the event organiser will tell you exact location.

Event darkness

The Moon has a big impact on the visibility of celestial bodies in the night sky. Try to plan your stargazing when there is no bright Moon at night as this is when the skies will be at their darkest.

Midnight on the date shown is shown as a white line with sunset to the left and sunrise the next morning to the right. A black background with stars shows the best times for stargazing.
