Astro Tourism and Dark Skies Workshop with Richard Darn and Robert Ince
Wednesday 20th March 2024 from 18:30pm to 21:00pm
Low Mill Outdoor Centre
Station Road, Askrigg, County Durham, DL3 8HA
This event is hosted by the Yorkshire Dales National Park to help and support local businesses:
This practical workshop is aimed at tourism businesses operating in the Yorkshire Dales. It will be presented by expert astro-tourism astronomers Richard Darn and Robert Ince, offering an informal and enjoyable opportunity to learn more about what our International Dark Sky Reserve status means for the Yorkshire Dales, what maintaining the status entails and what benefits Dark Sky Reserve status might bring to local businesses. In particular, we’ll be focusing on how you can use this ‘special quality’ to entice those visitors with a growing interest in experiencing a truly dark sky.
The session will, weather permitting, include time outside to give you a chance to view the stars and experience how a ‘Star party’ is run, so you’ll need to bring warm clothing!
There will be plenty of time to ask questions throughout, so if the world of Astro-tourism is all new to you or you just want reassurance from the experts, then this workshop is for you!
Note that this event is rescheduled from 24/01/24 which was cancelled due to very poor weather.
Please note that this has already taken place on 20/03/2024
