Sutton Bank Star Hub
Sutton Bank Visitors Centre, Thirsk, YO7 2EX
Spend a fascinating evening stargazing with the friendly and experienced astronomer Richard Darn under the dark skies of the new Star Hub at Sutton Bank National Park Centre.
The moon is absent, which means the sparkling winter stars will be glittering at their best given clear weather. We’ll use powerful telescopes to reveal some of the sky’s wonders and take a close look at majestic constellations like Gemini, Orion and Taurus. Plus, we’ll enjoy an interactive planetarium tour inside the warm Hub and get the chance to handle space rocks.
This event is suitable for adults and children over six years old and is perfect for novices, and goes ahead in all weather (unless conditions are hazardous). Warm refreshments are included in the ticket price.
The below chart shows if and when the skies will be at their darkest during this event. Moonlight is shown in light yellow and the Sun's twilight in light blue. Midnight on the date shown is shown as a white line with sunset to the left and sunrise the next morning to the right. A black background with stars shows the best times for stargazing.
