A Night Under the Stars family friendly camp-out (FREE!)
Monday 14th August 2023 from 18:30pm to Tuesday 15th August 2023 10:00am
Wilf's Cafe - Staveley Mill Yard
14 Back Lane, Staveley, Cumbria, LA8 9LR
Join the Friends of the Lake District at Mike’s Wood near Staveley for a Night Under the Stars to celebrate the region’s spectacular nighttime skies and wildlife.
We’ll marvel at beautiful moths, be amazed by bats zooming around, catching insects and feel very small as we view the moon and stars through telescopes and binoculars. We may even spot a shooting star or two as it’s peak time for the Perseid meteor shower.
While we sleep, most night creatures are busy catching their food or feeding on nectar to pollinate plants. Darkness is vital for their health. Tranquil, dark skies also benefit our health and well-being.
Meet outside Wilf’s Café in Staveley Mill Yard at 6.30 pm to walk up to the site together.
This is a FREE event! Please reserve your space via the Friends of the Lake District website.
