DESCRIPTION:The British Astronomical Association (BAA)\, Kernow Astronomers
  and the Society for Popular Astronomy (SPA) have come together to bring y
 ou a fantastic opportunity to explore the basics of astronomy.\n\nJoin the
 m for a programme of astronomy talks and activities that has something for
  everyone\, whatever your level (if any) of astronomical knowledge.\n\nThi
 s event is an eclipse special! There are significant partial solar and lun
 ar eclipses visible from the UK in August this year.  Find out why they ha
 ppen\, and how to observe them safely (free solar eclipse glasses).\n\nGiv
 en Cornwall’s rich ancient history\, we’ll also be hearing from local 
 expert Carolyn Kennett about how our ancient ancestors observed the Moon\,
  the Sun and Eclipses.\n\nCost is just £10 for adults and £5 for childre
 n under 18.\n\nIt’s not all talks\, there will be plenty of hands-on act
 ivities too including:\n\n\nobserve the Sun safely with some specialist te
 lescopes\, see sunspots and prominences (weather permitting!)\nHold actual
  pieces of meteorites from the Moon\, Mars and asteroids\nTry your hand at
  sketching the Moon or the Sun\nTalk to astronomy retailers and try out di
 fferent telescopes\nMake observations with remote telescopes\nYou’ll eve
 n be able to build and launch rockets at lunchtime!\n\n\nOur helpful exper
 ts will be on hand to discuss any questions you may have\, advise you on b
 udget-friendly equipment for astronomy\, and to talk about how local and n
 ational astronomy societies can help you on your astronomical journey of d
 iscovery.
