The South West Herts Astronomical Society was formed in 1968 to promote the science of astronomy and encourage widespread interest in the subject.

The Society has a very enthusiastic team of experienced astronomers active in outreach and regularly open their observatory on Saturday nights. New members and visitors are welcome.

  • South West Herts Astronomical Society Meeting

    The last Friday of the month from September 2023 to May 2024

    The Royal Masonic School for Girls, Watford, WD3 4HF

    Members of the public are very welcome to join the South West Herts Astronomical Society for this one of their regular monthly meetings that (mostly) take place on the last Friday of each month (depending on term-time), from September through to May.

    These sessions often involve a presentation by a guest speaker, astronomy news of interest and a virtual tour of the night sky in the planetarium.

    If you would like to attend this meeting, please first contact the Society to arrange access to the venue; a small on the door fee is payable to help cover costs (refunded if you become a Member of the Society).
