The Thanet Observatory is a recently refurbished observatory (2013) located in the grounds of Monkton Nature Reserve. It's proximity to a large nearby agricultural greenhouses shows up on light pollution maps however being set inside an old chalk quarry the skies are probably much darker. Members of the Monkton Stargazers regularly open the observatory to the public.
