Regular meetings with Liverpool Astronomical Society

  • Liverpool Young Astronomers Club

The third Thursday of the month from October 2023 to March 2024

Leighton Observatory - Pex Hill, Widnes, WA8 5QW

The Liverpool Astronomical Society run a monthly Young Astronomers Club at their Leighton Observatory in Pex Hill.

The club meets monthly between October and March to observe through telescopes, take astrophotos of various objects in the night sky, and have interesting talks and astronomy-related activities. These sessions usually occur on the third Thursday of each month; however, they are subject to change.

The club is aimed at 10 to 16-year-olds, but all youngsters are welcome! We recommend taking warm clothing as you may be outside! Drinks and refreshments included.

A parent or responsible adult must accompany youngsters. The cost is a voluntary donation of a few pounds; those aged 14-17 can choose to become Junior Members of the Society.
  • Liverpool Astronomical Society monthly meeting

The third Friday of the month from January 2024 to December 2024, except for June, July, August

Quaker Meeting House - Liverpool, Liverpool, L1 3BT

Members of the Liverpool Astronomical Society meet monthly at the Quaker House in School Lane. These sessions typically take place on the third Friday of each month (second Friday in December) and involve a presentation by a guest speaker. The meetings offer a great way of catching up with local astronomers, finding out about their forthcoming "sidewalk" stargazing sessions, and observing at their observatory at Pex Hill. Everyone is very welcome to join them!
  • Leighton Observatory Open Evening

Wednesday every week from January 2024 to December 2024

Leighton Observatory - Pex Hill, Widnes, WA8 5QW

Join the friendly and welcoming astronomers from the Liverpool Astronomical Society for this public open evening of their fabulous Leighton Observatory at Pex Hill.

If the weather is suitable, society members often have their telescopes ready to observe astronomical objects such as stars, planets, galaxies, nebulae, and stunning star clusters. If you have a telescope, bring it along!

If the weather is poor, there's an opportunity for an informal chat about all things space! So whether you are a beginner, professional astronomer or simply interested in astronomy, pop along and visit!
